Head Wines The Blonde Shiraz 2024
AU$65, 14.5% alcohol, screwcap, Barossa Valley.

This is both plush and measured. It tastes of red, blue and black berries, carries violet and associated floral notes, comes run-through with nut-like characters and then finishes with a choc-orange-hazelnut burst. The tannin here – ultra fine-grained – has an earthen, minerally aspect to it, and the length of the finish itself is very good. This wine is already drinking beautifully but you’d imagine that this will develop, especially over the medium term, very well.
