$29, 14% alcohol, screwcap, McLaren Vale.

For starters this wine is highly drinkable – it’s more-ish – but then it also has a dry, savoury sense of authenticity too. It feels and tastes like a wine that was grown and made out of the earth, if that makes sense. That’s a significant positive. It tastes of raspberries, black cherries, earth, roasted spices and peppercorns. It’s juicy and ripe up front – there’s a bit of red licorice flavour here – but then it’s dry and well honed through the finish. 92 points.
