Scarborough Keepers of the Flame Shiraz Viognier 2023
$100, 14.6% alcohol, screwcap, Hunter Valley.

This wine is both bold and elegant, floral and meaty, juicy and sinewy – all at once. If you called it the perfect red wine you wouldn’t be far wrong. Black berries and roasted plums, sweet earth notes, pepper, peppercorns, smoky oak and a firm surety to the tannin. It’s excellent, if not better than that. The “finish” of this wine is superb. Scarborough have produced a ripper here. 96 points.
