There’s chardonnay and then there’s chardonnay like this. This is an electrifying white wine with fanfare and fireworks in abundance. It’s flinty and taut, aflame with grapefruit, white peach, citrus and apple flavour, and comes rippled with characters of woodsmoke, pebbles, cedar-spice, fennel and gun smoke. The flint notes here add plenty of drama and flare, but the tension and power of the fruit are what makes this wine so special. This is Margaret River Chardonnay at its extreme best. 97 points.
