Kooyong Estate Chardonnay 2022
$50, 13.0% alcohol, screw cap, Mornington Peninsula.

Fifty AU dollars is hardly cheap for a bottle of wine but all things considered this wine is a pretty attractive proposition. In the glass it’s a lovely, complex, generous wine and it’s also – not that you can drink such things – a wine with a pretty impressive pedigree. For the past 20+ years this has been a super reliable wine, and never short on flavour. This 2022 release smells of popcorn and nougat but then tastes of juicy pear, peach and bacon fat. It’s a powerful wine, in a mouthwatering style. Its quality is clear. 94 points.
