This is nearly ten years old and it’s a cracker of a wine. It’s still fresh and bold with fruit, still substantial, still awash with boysenberry, blackcurrant, mint and cedarwood. But a mellow bottle-age characteristic – shooting fennel, leather and tobacco notes here and there – has also entered the building, in a way that makes the cellaring of wine worthwhile. This wine just really sings, on the nose, in the mouth, through the finish and beyond. It still has its shape, still has its flavour, and now offers yet more.
