Moppity Vineyards Lock & Key Pinot Noir 2024

Mattinson review of Moppity Lock&Key Pinot Noir 2024.

Moppity Vineyards Lock & Key Pinot Noir 2024
$30, 13% alcohol, screwcap, Tumbarumba.

The feet, below the surface, are paddling furiously in this well-structured Pinot Noir. It leads with ripe macerated cherry flavours and that’s its main shtick, but below the fruit there are complex characters of woodsmoke, undergrowth, dried herbs and peppercorns. Dry strings of tannin are well managed here, while a smoked-flowers aspect gives the wine an extra, exotic edge, and quite a bit of interest. There’s good drinking to be had here. 91 points.
