$120, 14% alcohol, screwcap, Margaret River.

Such an outstanding wine. One sip and bang, all bets are off. Vanilla bean, citrus, peach and nectarine flavours put on the most elaborate and beguiling of shows. The perfume of this wine is exceptional. The flavour too, in a context of taut control. And the finish, which comes ripped with grapefruit and sweet smoke and brine and nougat. It’s all happening in the Pierro Chardonnay vineyard. This is a killer release. 97 points.
