Turkey Flat Stonewell Shiraz 2024
AU$125, screwcap, Barossa Valley.

Single vineyard Barossa Valley shiraz from the Stonewell Vineyard on Seppeltsfield Road. Matured in 100% French oak, 45% new.

A significant volume of dark, inky, blackberried fruit flavour comes walled with a significant spread of firm, dry, authoritative tannin. The word monumental springs to mind, though balance too is a key feature – within a context of all-over size. Musk, plum, dark chocolate, asphalt, rust, roasted peppercorns and saltbush notes all play roles, though all too come rolled as one. There’s a bright, saturated-red-roses element to this wine which is most beguiling. There’s genuine swagger too, served as svelte as you can imagine. 96 points – Campbell Mattinson.
