Yalumba Vine Vale Grenache 2025
Yalumba Vine Vale Grenache 2025
AU$40, 14% alcohol, screwcap, Barossa Valley.
Yalumba is one of the leaders of modern Australian grenache, and is a [Mattinson 10-Star Winery]. This wine is from Yalumba’s Tri-Centenary Vineyard, which grows vines that were planted in 1929, 1949 and 1979. We’re into deep, sandy loam soil here with an underlay of red-brown clay.
This could be the best value grenache in the country. The quality is genuinely good, the style is modern, fresh and aromatically enticing, and while there’s substance there’s also lightness of touch. It’s a firm wine offering both velvet and grit – a classic combination in modern grenache – as it delivers flavours of bright raspberry, licorice all sorts, potpourri and roasted spices. It tastes delicious, feels good, and is bolted firmly in place. It’s a grenache that you should buy in volume rather than in singles. 94 points – Campbell Mattinson.
