$50, 14.5% alc, DIAM cork, Adelaide Hills.

This wine combines richness with complexity. It displays flavours of bell pepper, salted herbs, game and roasted nuts, which accounts for the complexity, but then it’s also juiced with dark, roasted berry flavours, and coffee-cream, and dark chocolate, and potpourri. Indeed you’d argue that this wine is more fuirt-driven than savoury, it’s just that there’s plenty of savoury-spice action, hence the syrah moniker. The end result is that it keeps you interested, satisfied, and more. 94 points.
