$80, 14.5% alcohol, screwcap, McLaren Vale.

This is a deep, dark wine with blackberry, roasted plums, asphalt and licorice notes woven through with cloves and dark chocolate. It’s boldly fruited, firm through the finish, warm and – in every respect – substantial. The curl of tannin here is a particular good tether for all the richness that precedes it. This is a big wine and a very good one. 93 points.
