Moppity Lock & Key Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Mattinson review of Moppity Lock & Key Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Moppity Lock & Key Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
$30, 14.5% alcohol, screwcap, Hilltops.

Moppity is a master grower/maker of cabernet, and this mastery is evident again here. We’re looking at medium-weight fruit flavours with inflections of dust, tobacco, mint and cloves, a subtle toasty-licoricey character pushing through the back half of the wine. The fruit itself presents as blackcurrant with inflections of mulberry and plum. This wine tastes and feels both varietal, and confident. You could tuck into it now – it has the inherent balance to drink well in its youth – but this will mature well for a decade, if not longer. 93 points.
