Coppabella Procella I Hilltops Shiraz 2022

Mattinson review of Coppabella Procella I Hilltops Shiraz 2022.

Coppabella Procella I Hilltops Shiraz 2022
$60, 13.5% alcohol, screwcap, Hilltops.

This is a modern Australian shiraz in the best of ways. It’s almost like Pinot Noir though it has more heft than that. It’s certainly elegant, and complex, with black pepper, potpourri, roasted nut and mint characters floating through red and black cherry fruit flavour. It’s strung lightly with tannin though the effect of this is that the finish feels dry and graphite-like. It has more than its fair share of class, you could say. In short, the smell, taste and finish of this wine are all excellent. It makes overt complexity seem delicious. 94 points.
