Pisoni Estate Chardonnay 2023

Mattinson review of Pisoni Estate Chardonnay 2023.

Pisoni Estate Chardonnay 2023
14.1% alcohol, cork, Monterey County USA (Santa Lucia Highlands).

Acidity is the fibre-optic cable of wine; it conveys all you need to know about the land and the variety and the climate the wine was grown in. This wine is the perfect example of this notion; the acidity itself is run with sweet fruit flavour, the palate kept fresh at all times, the flavour tending towards richness without pushing too hard. It’s a powerful wine, cut with quartz, layered with cream and honey, and driven by pure exquisite peach. Oak plays a role but in a taut, controlled context. This wine is excellent now but will improve. 94+ points.
