Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir 2022

Mattinson review of Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir 2022.

Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir 2022
14.1% alcohol, cork, Santa Lucia Highlands Monterey County USA.

The first word in my notes is, simply, “wow”. I wrote this not because of the fruit or even the complexity, but because of the linger of the finish. This really does extend appreciably through the finish. It’s all about the framework of tannin here, and the way this tannin takes the fruit-and-spice-and-rock flavours and says Come With Me. This wine is an example of tannin, acid and fruit as a buddy system. If you need specifics, it tastes of red cherry, red lciorice, crushed rocks and fistfuls of smoked, dried herbs. It’s the best wine of the 2022 Pisoni releases, and it is because of its structure and length. 96 points.
