Yalumba Signature Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2019
$65, 14.5% alcohol, cork, Barossa Valley.

In quality terms, for a traditional, full-bodied Australian red wine, this is as bankable an asset as you will encounter. It nails the brief 100%. Its flavours are dark, brooding, deep and delicious; its tannin profile is both integrated and rock solid, and the length of the finish – awash with toasted herbs, tobacco, gum leaf and cedar-cream characters – is impeccably long. This wine is svelte, rich and refined. It’s also – for a wine with such a history of excellence – remarkably well priced too. 95 points.
