Bekkers McLaren Vale Syrah Grenache 2023

Mattinson review of Bekkers Syrah Grenache 2023.

Bekkers McLaren Vale Syrah Grenache 2023
$90, 14.0% alcohol, screwcap, McLaren Vale.

An historic blend has been brought beautifully to life here. The complexity, the general finesse, the insistence and the length; all facets here sing from an elite songbook. It tastes of undergrowth and saltbush, raspberry and plum, rust and aromatic herbs, with a gentle sway of vanillin then adding a soft, creamy, textural element – but no more than that. There’s an insistence to this wine, and an impressive spread of grapey, silty tannin too. There are no tricks: the seduction is born straight out of the wine’s inherent quality. 95 points.
