$35, 14% alcohol, screwcap, McLaren Vale.

The balance of the wine, the sling of fruit, the integrated tannin and the all-round polish; it is the easiest wine to recommend. The fact that the value is in the wine enthusiast’s favour doesn’t hurt either. It tastes of red cherry, tangy orange, plum, sweet spice and dry cola, and at every step it feels as though it knows exactly what it’s doing. I wouldn’t cellar this, I would drink it now-ish, and for that purpose it’s a ripper. 93 points.
