$45, 14.5% alcohol, screwcap, Yarra Valley.

This is a beautful Yarra Valley syrah/shiraz. It’s built on ripe cherry-plum fruit flavour but then both peppercorn and black pepper characters sweep persuasively through, bringing seductive cedarwood and woodsmoke notes along with them. It feels balanced, silken and complex – with roasted nut notes appearing with air. The extension of the finish is then a noteworthy way to sign off. 94 points.
