Hentley Farm Von Kasper Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
$100, 14.5% alcohol, screwcap, Barossa Valley.

This was grown on a vineyard that rolls past the banks of the Greenock Creek in the Barossa Valley.

It’s a substantial wine, a deeply flavoured wine, a structured wine and a lengthy one. In short, it’s a high quality wine. It tastes of blackberry and mint, dark chocolate and earth, tobacco and toast, though there are some crushed Aussie bush spice characters – bordering on pepper – in the mix as well, which helps give it an extra impression of character. This wine plants its feet firmly and as it does, it sets you back on your heels. It’s both fresh and imposing. 95 points.

Mattinson, who is 100% independent, puts a score out of 100 on every wine that he reviews. But what he’d rather do, is tell you the wine’s story.
