Howard Park Allingham Chardonnay 2024
$105, 13% alcohol, screwcap, Margaret River.

It was not the easiest of vintages but Howard Park has produced a beautiful wine here. It sits straw-green-coloured in the glass; it’s high in texture; it blooms with stonefruit-driven flavour and the finish is refreshing, cleansing, mouthwatering and persistent. Cedarwood oak is tucked immaculately into the fruit; there’s an element of oyster shells about the edges; vanilla bean, citrus and grapefruit characters all make well-timed appearances. Give this wine another year or two in the bottle, after which it will drink impressively.
