Cooks Lot Iconique Barrique Rolled Chardonnay 2019
$60, 13% alcohol, screwcap, Orange.

This wine is seven years old but it feels as though it’s only just starting its journey. A long life can be expected – if you can keep your hands off it. It offers a great deal of richness, a wealth of texture to go with it, and an excellent extra push of flavour through the finish. It tastes of ripe peaches, cedar, pine, butter, cashews and cream, with crushed fennel and saltbush notes popping through the aftertaste. This wine isn’t the life of the party; it is the party. 93+ points.
