Otway Wines Reserve Chardonnay 2024
AU$40, 13% alcohol, screwcap, Geelong.

In an ideal world this wine would be cellared for another three or four years prior to drinking it. It has that kind of staying power, and that kind of potential. It tastes of lemon curd, peach, waxed apple, nashi pears, grilled nuts and custard powder, with honeysuckle characters lingering throughout. It has both a richness and a directness, the latter resulting in an impressively long finish. It’s a fine wine. It’s well made, well fruited, and memorable.
