Mumm Tasmania Brut Prestige NV

Bottle of Mumm Brut Prestige NV from Tasmania.

Mumm Tasmania Brut Prestige NV
$38, 12% alcohol, DIAM cork, Tasmania.

This is from Mumm’s new Terroirs range, and is the Tasmanian release. There’s also a Mumm Prestige Brut from Marlborough in New Zealand.

This is a sparkling wine for those who like a bit of friskiness to their fizz. It’s lean and lemony with sorbet and tonic characters darting throughout. The refreshment factor is high. There’s a soft vanilla-bean note too, which whispers a creaminess into the wine. You won’t find a lot of depth here but it finishes with a mouthwatering flourish. You don’t normally say this with a NV sparkling wine but this will likely score higher in 12 months time. 90 points.
