Bekkers
Bekkers is a Mattinson 10-Star Winery — Campbell Mattinson's highest honour.
McLaren Vale.
Bekkers is a modern phenomenon of fine Australian wine. It starts, to borrow a phrase, where most others leave off, in that its chief and only concern is ultimate quality.
The case.
In the pursuit of this ideal, Bekkers leaves no stone unturned. Grenache and Syrah are the chief conduits, as you would expect of a fine McLaren Vale producer. But so too now is Cabernet Sauvignon, served with all of its perfumed charm intact, the latter courtesy of Bekkers’ exceptional, tiered, lovingly restored Clarendon vineyard (acquired in 2020). Vineyards, great vineyards, are the key to Bekkers but then so too is the depth of local knowledge and know-how; Emmanuelle Bekkers, French-born, has made wine in the McLaren Vale region for over 25 years. Toby Bekkers, home grown, has been an outstanding viticultural voice, and exponent, in the region for yet longer.
Bekkers is, simply, a sensitive combination of maker, grower, variety and land.
The wines that make the case.
Bekkers is a Mattinson 10-Star Winery – the highest honour awarded by Australian wine critic Campbell Mattinson. 10-Star status recognises one thing: the quality of the wine in the glass, every glass, across the range. The full list of 10-Star Wineries constitutes Australia's Best Wineries.
