Provenance Darriwill Pinot Noir 2023

Mattinson review of Provenance Darriwill Pinot Noir 2023.

Provenance Darriwill Pinot Noir 2023
$120, 13.5% alcohol, cork, Geelong.

This is a single vineyard wine with a production of 25 dozen only. The Darriwill vineyard is local to the Provenance winery, in the Moorabool Valley near Geelong. Indeed the Provenance winery has worked with this vineyard for over 20 years.

The power in this limited-run series of Pinot Noirs from Provenance is quite something. This wine lays down its quality in no uncertain terms, its notes of black cherry, foresty herbs, earth and orange peel blending beautifully with smoky, cedarwood oak. The tannin of this wine is fine and beautifully judged, the finish then persistent and then some. This wine needs a couple of extra years in the bottle but thereafter, it will sing. 94+ points.
