Riposte THE Pinot Noir 2024

Bottle of Riposte The Pinot Noir 2024.

Riposte THE Pinot Noir 2024
$375, 13.5% alcohol, screwcap, Adelaide Hills.

According to Tim Knpasstein the 2024 vintage “produced the best parcels of Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir we have seen in the past twenty years”. Eighty-seven barriques of Pinot Noir were made at Knappstein/Riposte. Sixty-seven of these barrels made it into Riposte The Sabre Pinot Noir. Only three barrels (of 87) made it into this Riposte THE Pinot Noir 2024 release.

I could review this wine is two words: it’s fabulous. It’s the fruit, the complexity and the length of the finish that brings me to this conclusion, most definitely, but then it’s the formation of the tannin, as the flavours wash through, that gets me excited the most. This is one hell of a serious bottle of Pinot Noir. It’s meaty, cherried, spicy and floral; it has gravitas; it crashes through the shore of the finish with complete conviction. 96 points.
