Savaterre Pinot Noir 2024
AU$100, 13.5% alcohol, screwcap, Beechworth.

Itemising the individual flavours here isn’t really the point. This wine is complex, fresh, joyous, exquisitely varietal and ultimately resounding. If you need convincing, it convinces you. If you don’t, it does anyway. It throws out a carpet of red roses and cherries and then opens the drapes on earth, sap, spice, earth and rust. It’s the country and the city in one bottle, harmonised, roads laid, ordered, celebratory. It’s wonderful. That’s what it is. Wonderful.
