Scotsburn Ancient Sea Pinot Noir 2025
Scotsburn Ancient Sea Pinot Noir 2025
$68, 13.2% alcohol, screwcap, Geelong.
It’s called Ancient Sea because it’s grown in the remnant soils of an Ordovician-period seabed.
This is a surly, sultry, seductive pinot noir offering a mass of macerated cherry-plum fruit, highlights of sweet spice and orange blossom, a gentle veneer of cedarwood oak and a long trail of extra flavour out through the finish. It’s fine, finessed and powerful at once, with a complexity that feels both easy-going and impressive at once. It will mature gracefully and well. 94 points – Campbell Mattinson.
