So much composure, such inherent balance, such silk and, in the end, persistence. This wine is ripe and attractive – and indeed, driven largely by fruit – but it’s not fruit-sweet and it’s not tricked up. It tastes of red and black cherries, earth, undergrowth, orange blossoms and coffee, and has a burst of bell-clear red berried flavour popping on the finish. It’s excellent now but it has settled in, and wants to be aged. 94+ points – Campbell Mattinson.
