This Sparkling Life
I’ve always said that I drink sparkling wine for me, not for review. That is, I like and drink sparkling wine so much that I just want to enjoy it, sans words, sans scores. I’ve also been known to say that I’ve never met a sparkling wine that I didn’t like, or at least that I couldn’t happily drink, such is my love for the style. But I’ve walked myself back from this statement over the years because really, there’s some rough sweet drongo rubbish out there. After 25+ years of reviewing wine, and 40 years of drinking sparkling wine, I thought it might be time to let some words spill over from the sparkling wines I drink. Hence this page. It’s for the joy of it. The word celebration is the most commonly-associated word with sparkling wine. I prefer the word miracle. You drink sparkling wine, and into your life you take on a bit of miracle.
